Sustainability

The Sustainability efforts support the environmentally responsible features in our properties. These added value features are specifically designed to reduce the carbon footprint with eco-friendly alternatives and can include anything from switching to renewable energy sources, localizing supply chains, developing energy-efficient technologies, eliminating food waste, and reducing plastic usage, to name a few.
Our company has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the revitalization of architecturally significant buildings, neighborhoods, and communities throughout the country, always with an eye to sustainability. We were recognized by Marriott as the top sustainable hotel developer in North America in 2022.
Specifically, in terms of Hotel Blackhawk, these Clean Energy features include geothermal heating and cooling (look at the river out the window with a new eye to the fact it is helping to heat and cool our building).  This added to new high energy VRV/VRF HVAC technology that reduces energy usage by more than 30%, highly insulated windows and store fronts, low flow Toto toilets that reduce water and bulk waste, LED lighting, compost stations, and insulation of all exterior walls, sustainable hotel gardens, as well as specialized filter systems. In an effort to reduce plastic waste, water refill stations are located throughout the properties.  We also actively source local suppliers for example our chicken and beef come from within 40 miles of the property. Our goal is to always actively source in our local and farmers markets.
We are proud to be a part of and support efforts to make the properties and our communities sustainable, as they grow and provide everyone with a place to work, live and play.
