More History

Our majestic structure originally opened in 1915. We have hosted Presidents, entertainers, and legendary athletes and the Quad Cities’ Captains of Industry call our luxury apartments home. Whether staying overnight or dining to celebrate a special occasion, Hotel Blackhawk is the place to be and to be seen. Our extensive menu and reasonable prices allow locals and guests to call Bix Bistro Davenport’s Dining Room.

The Sustainability efforts support the environmentally responsible features in our properties. These added value features are specifically designed to reduce the carbon footprint with eco-friendly alternatives and can include anything from switching to renewable energy sources, localizing supply chains, developing energy-efficient technologies, eliminating food waste, and reducing plastic usage, to name a few.

Innkeeper Hospitality Services, LLC., which has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the revitalization of architecturally significant buildings, neighborhoods, and communities throughout the country, manages Hotel Saint Louis and The Seven Gables Inn in St. Louis, Hotel Blackhawk and The Current Iowa, the No. 1 and No. 2 hotels in Davenport, Iowa, as well as The Warrior Hotel in Sioux City, Iowa.

Specifically, in terms of Hotel Saint Louis and The Warrior, these Clean Energy features include new high energy VRV/VRF HVAC technology that reduces energy usage by more than 30%, highly insulated windows and store fronts, low flow bidet toilets that reduce water and bulk waste, LED lighting, compost stations, and insulation of all exterior walls, sustainable hotel gardens, as well as specialized filters systems. In an effort to reduce plastic waste, guests are provided metal water bottles upon check-in and water refill stations are located throughout the properties.  We also actively source local suppliers for example our chicken and beef come from within 40 miles of the property. In the year before the Pandemic, we sourced over 5 million in goods and services for Hotel Saint Louis.

Additional sustainable improvements to The Current Hotel and The Warrior, both properties, feature a rooftop solar panel system and an innovative hybrid Geothermal/VRF mechanical system, respectively.

Properties undergoing Clean Energy improvements during development and renovation are assessed higher real estate taxes by the cities in which the hotels are located to cover the added sustainability expenses of which we are proud to be a part of and support in efforts to make the properties sustainable, as they grow and provide the communities with a place to work, live and play.
